Description:
AILLA is a digital archive that preserves and provides access to recordings and texts of Indigenous languages from Latin America. Its mission is to protect these materials and make them accessible to Indigenous communities, researchers, and other interested audiences.
Teaching ideas:
Analyze excerpts from recordings and texts available in the archive. Students could compare and contrast Indigenous languages with Spanish in terms of linguistic structures and cultural aspects. Another activity would be to create projects in which students research a specific Indigenous language through an environmentally relevant concept, its cultural and social context, and present their findings in class.
